What Roses has on offer for the visitor who enjoys sport goes way beyond the average, in the true sense of the word! Whatever your sport of choice, make sure to bring the gear along! It goes almost without saying that this applies for the full range of water sports.
The area is particularly attractive for scuba diving and snorkelling, with a protected underwater wildlife reserve around the Medes islands. Windsurfing and sailing are sports for which Roses gets top billing too: several international championships have been held here. The equipment for just about every water sport can be hired: from a surfboard to a yacht, everything's available on site.
But sports in Roses rise even higher: hang gliding and paragliding are possible from the Alberes mountain range; the occasional landing on the beach is not excluded either. Skydiving? Why not? First jump courses are taught at the world's largest skydiving centre, only 5 Km. away!
And during the winter months youre well advised to bring your skis. The slopes in the Pyrenees are only an hours drive away. Imagine: skiing hard in the morning relaxing in the sun on the terrace of your La Madrague apartment in the afternoon! Golf is your game? Two superb 18-hole courses one of which with a PGA rating are just around the corner. Tennis? Horseback riding? Well, of course!
And if you havent started yet, your stay in Roses could be an excellent opportunity to begin any of the sports practised here by simply enrolling with one of the many professional schools.
